Breaking Down the AP Top 25 College Football Poll

Here is the latest top 25 AP Poll for college football:

1. Clemson
2. Alabama
3. Georgia
4. Notre Dame
5. North Carolina
6. Ohio State
7. Oklahoma State
8. Cincinnati
9. Penn State
10. Florida
11. Texas A&M
12. Oregon
13. Miami
14. Auburn
15. BYU
16. Wisconsin
17. SMU
18. Tennessee
19. Michigan
20. Iowa State
21. Louisiana
22. Kansas State
23. Virginia Tech
24. Minnesota
25. USC

Some quick notes:

1) Florida slid from no. 4 to no. 10 after falling to Texas A&M, who rose from no. 21 to no. 11 on the victory.

2) Mack Brown and North Carolina were ranked no. 8 last week, and leapfrogged Ohio State, whose Big Ten season has still not started.

3) Miami falls from no. 7 to no. 13 after losing to Clemson.

4) Tennessee didn't get dinged too badly for losing to Georgia, dropping from no. 14 to no. 18.

5) Alabama having a relatively close matchup with Ole Miss was not enough for voters to put Georgia over them. This distinction doesn't really matter because the two teams play each other next Saturday night so we'll see on the field who is better.
