Antonio Brown Hasn't Been Officially Re-Signed By The Bucs, Here's Why

Back in late April, reports began to surface that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were re-signing wide receiver Antonio Brown. The move was officially going to get the band back together after their Super Bowl run in 2020, but Brown's re-signing hasn't been finalized yet.

According to Bruce Arians, that's because Brown's knee injury will require surgery. The Bucs head coach revealed that news during an appearance on the Pewter Report Podcast on Tuesday. But don't worry, Tampa fans ... it should all be OK.

“He has to pass the physical,” Arians said, via PewterReport.com. “Hopefully we’ll have a scope on Tuesday, he’s getting his knee cleaned out, and everything will work out fine. It’s just a matter of a physical.”

Is this injury new? We don't know, but it sounds like Brown is still expected to be back with the team for an attempt at a repeat performance. That's good news for Tom Brady too, as Brown provided a nice No. 3 option at wide receiver behind Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.

In eight games, Brown hauled in 45 receptions for 483 yards and four scores. A knee injury kept him from playing in two of the three postseason games leading up to the Super Bowl, but he did catch a touchdown pass in Super Bowl LV.

Arians did make an interesting comment about Brown though.

“We wanted AB back,” Arians continued. “He was a model citizen the whole time he’s been here. We wanted him back, and he’s never had surgery in his life. It’s just a matter of physical done. I wanted him back the whole time.”

From all indications, we should see Brown back on the field providing Brady with another pass-catching option this season.
