The Texans sure looked like a team that could go 9-7 & sneak into the playoffs

In other words, it was a pretty typical night out of Bill O’Brien’s team in a 34-20 loss to the Chiefs. There were a couple things going through my head as I watched last night:

• The Texans sure could’ve used DeAndre Hopkins.

• Clyde Edwards-Helaire had a great night, but don’t be shocked if Andy Reid finds a back to get the ball into the end zone from three yards out. Helaire struggled in that position.

• The one prop bet that stood out from Outkick’s Ryan Glasspiegel gambling report was Tyreek Hill UNDER 5.5 catches. He had five. I should’ve bet it.

• Mahomes was 24 of 32 for 211 and three touchdowns and it felt like a pedestrian night. The Chiefs will be hard to beat in the AFC if they get nights like this, a decent vibe with fans in the stands and an AFC West featuring quarterbacks named Tyrod Taylor, Drew Lock & Derek Carr. Remember how it felt to give the Patriots home-field advantage throughout the playoffs because of the AFC East? The Chiefs have taken over that role.

  1. One of the best parts of my day, Joe. So much entertainment here. I wonder how much traffic this regular column gets versus other stories on Outkick. If more people knew you had curated pics of this Jenna Berman chick, I mean, my goodness… Either way, I think the amount of comments you get belies the actual traffic this column gets.

    • Thanks for the comments, Anton. We can see the traffic & people love Morning Screencaps. It does well. I’ve been doing the column for about a decade. Most people don’t know it’s a spinoff of a column SEC Network’s Peter Burns used to write for me at Busted Coverage. It’s a labor of love for sure.
