And Here We Go: Dems To Introduce Bill To Expand Supreme Court

During last year's presidential election and Senate runoffs, Republicans suggested that, if elected, Democrats would attempt to pack the court. The fear was that if Democrats took control of the Senate and presidency while maintaining a House majority, they would have enough power to pack the court.

Now Democrats are attempting to execute that plan.

According to an article on NBC News, Democrats are pushing to add more justices to the US Supreme Court. On Thursday, they will introducing new legislation that would expand the number of justices from nine to 13.

The bill is being spearheaded by Sen. Ed Markey of Massachusetts in the Senate and Rep. Jerry Nadler of New York, the House Judiciary Committee Chair, in the House. It is also being co-sponsored by Reps. Mondaire Jones of New York and Hank Johnson of Georgia.

Whether the bill is ever passed is another story entirely.

The majorities in both the House and Senate are slim, making such a radical change more difficult to push through. At one time, people thought President Joe Biden would be an obstacle in packing the court, mostly because he said he "wasn't a fan" of the idea.

He is beginning to come around though, which is concerning.

We'll have to wait and see how things go once the legislation is introduced on Thursday. Stay tuned for updates on this story.
