We are not breaking news when we say that it was July 4th weekend and that there were lots of fireworks across America, from the biggest cities to the smallest towns. Different regions treated the annual tradition differently from a regulatory perspective; in Los Angeles and across LA county, fireworks were banned. However, this video from the CBS affiliate KCAL shows that that ban went entirely defied:
In the understatement of the century, the news anchor said: "Our local fire departments and police departments have been begging people not to do this, but it seems tonight that they are not listening to those calls."
I'll admit I've never been a big fireworks guy -- watching them on July 4th is fine if unremarkable, but I can't fathom being someone who PAYS for them or runs the risk of messing them up and getting hurt or hurting someone else.
Nonetheless, one must acknowledge that this 40-second clip is indicative of how people at least in that region are reacting to regulations right now.
