Quebec Bans Unvaxxed Shoppers From Large Stores, Limits Purchases To Food And Medicine
We can now count the Quebec government among those who have passed the coronabro certification test. And they didn't just do well, they were très magnifique!
Earlier this week, the Quebec government (or, should we say, la régime), announced new restrictions which limit the ability of unvaccinated residents to enter large stores or purchase anything other than food and medicine.
The new rules went into effect Monday and require Quebecers to show proof of a COVID-19 vaccination in order to step foot into store with a surface area of more than 1,500 square meters (about 16,000 square feet). The only exceptions are pharmacies and grocery stores.
Vive la science!
Any unvaccinated persons who enter a big box store such as a Target or Walmart will have to be accompanied by a store employee as they shop and will not be allowed to make purchases other than food or medicine.
Because, as we all know, viruses -- especially the coronavirus -- spread much more easily in the Blu-ray disc aisle than in the produce section.
Premier François Legault stated that for now, two doses of the vaccine will be required to enter stores, but that will eventually change to three. As boosters follow, you can expect the Quebec government to require additional jabs before allowing residents to browse for a new desk chair or stock up on candles.
If that's not enough, Montreal's CTV News reports that: "the Legault government says it is considering imposing a fine on people who refuse to be vaccinated for non-medical reasons."
Fun fact: the motto of the province of Quebec is Je me souviens, or I remember. We can assume that all Quebecers, vaxxed and unvaxxed alike, will remember this for a long time.
