Governor DeSantis To Clay: Yes, Kids Need To Return To Classroom

When it comes to kids being back in school, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis agrees with the CDC and pediatricians. It needs to happen, and right away, DeSantis indicated during an exclusive interview with OutKick's Clay Travis on Fox Sports Radio.

"It was one of the biggest policy failures in modern American history," DeSantis told Clay. "The data, as you say, is overwhelmingly clear. We knew this back in May. We did know in March that kids were less likely to suffer significant illness from (the COVID-19 virus). By the time we got to May we had examples of schools being open all over the world. And it was clear, kids are at low risk. They're not big spreaders of this, particularly the younger kids."

DeSantis added that not only do a lot of parents want to be back in school, "but a lot the kids want to be back in school." A lot of parents, DeSantis said, have told him that a return to the classroom has actually lifted their kids' spirits.
