CDC Director Tries To Defend New Mask Guidelines

After the CDC updated their federal guidance to include indoor masks, regardless of vaccination status, the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is feeling the heat. Now, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky is trying to clarify the CDC's updated guidance after an abundance of criticism.

Appearing on Fox News Friday, Walensky addressed the CDC's new guidelines and the ensuing pushback from Americans: “This was not news that I expected the American people to welcome. This weighed heavily on me to have to do this. I have no interest in continuing mask guidance, and the best way to stop a new variant from spreading is to have less virus out there and the best way to do that is to get people vaccinated and to mask up until they are," said Walensky.

The new guidelines, released on Tuesday, recommend that everyone wear masks in crowded indoor settings - regardless of vaccination status- throughout parts of the country where the coronavirus cases have spiked.

Speculation swirled that the government would be federally mandating vaccines, but Walensky shot down those rumors, directly stating: "there will be no federal (vaccine) mandate."

If these guidelines go any further, the CDC is going to have their (sanitized) hands full. Because you can't mask the displeasure of the American people.
