Alabama Pro Day Starting To Sound Like A Dud

Videos by OutKick

Alabama’s Pro Day is set to happen on Tuesday. With all the top prospects coming out of Tuscaloosa, that would normally make for an exciting event. But it’s lost a little bit of its luster with news that came up on Tuesday morning.

James Palmer with the NFL Network is reporting that the star receiving duo, Jaylen Waddle and DeVonta Smith, will not participate in it.

“The expectation is that Alabama star WRs Jaylen Waddle and DeVonta Smith won’t work out today,” Palmer tweeted. “Mac Jones will be throwing for a second time today and didn’t have either for the first session. But he will have RB Najee Harris running routes for this session I’m told.”

This is obviously a disappointment.

First off, everyone wanted to see the two pass-catchers, projected to be top-10 picks, in action. Their absence also affects QB Mac Jones and his potential performance. It’s only a Pro Day workout, but their presence would have helped.

It will be good to see Harris in action, and there will be others as well. Still, this will be a dud without Waddle or Smith.

  1. Better to let the hype carry you and leave your 40 time open to legend. Smart move, even if a disappointing show. Everyone knows Waddle and Smith are really fast from watching tape of them torch really good DBs, so let it stand on its own.
