Alabama First Football Scrimmage Of 2021 Has Nick Saban Smiling

Just a few months after hoisting another championship trophy, Alabama coach Nick Saban was all smiles over the weekend following the first scrimmage of 2021.

Saban has the usual offseason issues to deal with, but overall it looks like the Crimson Tide is going to be right back in the mix for another title.

One thing that had Saban excited was the intensity that his young team showed.

“There was a lot of good hitting, and there was a lot of good things to teach from,” he said.

It's the usual coach speak, but Saban's never going to give you a lot when discussing his team. Just the fact he walked out of the scrimmage smiling should speak volumes about how good this Alabama team could be come August.

The Crimson Tide does have one position of concern for 2021, the inexperienced offensive line.

The unit lost a number of players, and it'll be on Saban and the coaching staff to get the young players on the roster ready for the season.

“I think they’ve got a lot of ability,” Saban said of his offensive line.

“I think their heads swimming probably a little bit right now with all the different things that they have to learn on offense, but you’re also seeing probably a lot more things than you’re used to seeing out of the defense. So that creates a lot of multiples for a young guy.”
