A Quickie With Holly Sonders

Can anyone remember the name of last week's PGA Tour event? I didn’t think so. Well this week we have another doozy: The Rocket Mortgage Classic, or as I like to call it, “the lube before the Open Championship.” These events are all foreplay before the majors … go ahead, try and change my mind.

Speaking of doozys, do you know where the word "doozy" comes from? Well it suggests here that it may have originated as a tribute to popular Italian actress Eleonora Duse (1859-1924), and that it was also inspired by the Duesenberg, an expensive and classy make of automobile from the 1920s and 30s.

Expensive and classy? Hmmm, I can definitely relate.

Here's a pic of Eleonora. She definitely was a hottie, game recognizes game. Wonder what kind of damage she could have done with an IG account.

And here's a shot of a Duesenberg. Powerful and stunningly beautiful, just like me, and it has huge headlights, just like ... well, you get the idea.

OK, before you go into a panic, here's a random shot from my IG page.

Anyhow, there is money to be made this week, and you know I'm all about making that cash, so before we get to this week's event at Detroit Country Club, please check out my web page.

Now it's time to strap in and strap on for the Rocket. Who do I like this week?

Bryson DeChambeau (+750) is the defending champ and one thing that DOES come to mind isn’t the fact he won last year but HOW he won  last year. He emerged from Covid quarantine looking like Popeye and basically Happy Gilmore'd the shit out of this track. He is definitely on my radar this week no matter what.

Who else am I kinda fond of? Oh, I dunno, let's spin the dial and see where it lands. That's the kind of mood I'm in ... OK, how about Jason Day (+3100), who's coming off a T10 at the Travelers. Sure he's got a bad back, but if somebody rubs him the right way, he could be a contender. And sure, how about Bubba Watson (+3600)? He's due.

To be honest, I don't much care for longshots, so next week I might just pick names out of a hat. How bout this one?

Or this one?

Or maybe even this one?

Until next time, fellas!
