49ers Not Set On Who To Take At No. 3

The San Francisco 49ers aren't yet sure who they will select with the No. 3 overall pick in the NFL draft.

Earlier in the offseason, the 49ers gave up a bevy of draft picks in order to move up from No. 12 to No. 3 overall. ESPN’s Mike Tannenbaum reports that the Niners have yet to reach a consensus on who they’ll take just days ahead of the April 29 draft.

The 49'ers are taking a closer look at Ohio State’s Justin Fields, Alabama’s Mac Jones, and North Dakota State’s Trey Lance in the lead-up to the draft, ProFootballRumors.com reports.

Jones has been expected to be the quarterback they want, but Tannenbaum told the "Get Up" crew that there’s still some debate among SF brass.

“What that says to me and what I am hearing around the league is they are not unanimous in who they want to pick, meaning John Lynch, Adam Peters, and Kyle Shanahan,” Tannenbaum said.

If Jones ends up in San Francisco, Fields and Lance likely won’t wait long to hear their names called.

"Between the three aforementioned passers and the presumptive top two picks (Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson), we’re expecting to see five QBs taken inside of the top 12," the article reads.

All of this comes as the speculation continues with the Niners’ current starter, Jimmy Garoppolo. ProFootballRumors.com reports Lynch has said that Garoppolo is staying put for 2021.
