Dan Mullen is happy everyone thinks Mississippi State will suck

Dan Mullen's got jokes at SEC Media Days.

Mullen's duties are done in Hoover, but he had a little fun with seemingly everyone once again dumping on his program.

Despite winning 10 games last year and being ranked No. 1 in the country for four consecutive weeks -- and then bringing back a potential Heisman-candidate at quarterback for 2015 -- some things never seem to change for Mississippi State.

Entering this fall, the Bulldogs are widely picked to finish last in the SEC West. How does Mullen feel about that?

"This is my seventh year coming here, and I think every year they've picked us to finish last," he said in Hoover. "It's kind of like a tradition.

"What I love is that maybe people look past us and say we don't have much of a chance this year. We kind of like that and can go out there with a bit of a chip on (our) shoulder and prove everybody wrong."

Miss. State will get its chances this year to make people eat that prediction, with LSU in Week 2 and then at Auburn and at Texas A&M back-to-back in Week 5 and Week 6. Hell of a September (plus a few days into October), but MSU's season will be defined by this big finish: at Missouri, Alabama, at Arkansas, Mississippi. Can't wait for that.

One other Dan Mullen thing we need to talk about before getting out of here: this pinstripe suit and Yeezy shoe combo.

That's an Adidas shoe designed by Kanye West, and Mullen was psyched to get his pair in the mail Tuesday morning so he could wear them to his press conference.

On their own? They're all right. I don't know about you guys, though, but they ain't designed to be worn with pinstripe suits. Sorry, "Yankee" Dan.
