2-0 Raiders Cheerleaders Are Fired Up, UT’s Small-Hooker & NC State Fan Arrested After Upset

Random thoughts from a Saturday putting together an IKEA bed frame and watching college football…

…the basement couch is too damn comfortable and there are too many commercials during these games which is a horrible combination these days. I hit the power recline and my ass is out in five minutes. I know what’s coming, but I do it anyway. The next thing I know it’s late in the second quarter of the Oregon game and it’s midnight. I like to be as informed as possible with the world of college football, but these late games aren’t making it easy on me.

…I saw some CFB writer who claims to be in the know about the sport with Michigan at No. 10. Now I know that’s probably just a troll to get people to respond to his Top 10, but if you watched the Rutgers-Michigan game you’d know that Cade McNamara had a brutal second half where he couldn’t hit a receiver in the numbers from five yards out. Michigan had 42 yards of total offense in the second half and McNamara finished 9 of 16 for 163 yards.

“Whatever it was, I’ve got to be better as well. When they load the box like that, it’s got to come down to us beating them in man-coverage. We have do a better job overall offensively as a unit,” McNamara said after the game.

“Me, wide receivers, running backs, being able to break clean coverage. That’s what it’s going to come down to.”

• I turned to my wife last night while on the basement couch and made the announcement: I need more TVs. At least two more. How am I supposed to see the Ryder Cup and the end of the 3:30 kickoffs all at the same time?

• Apples dipped in caramel. Holy crap I forgot how great that tastes. The kids have dad to thank for that while on his beer run. It was a Bell’s Rind over Matter night. That’s right, apples dipped in caramel, then a lemon & orange beer. Got all of my vitamins in before the couch forced my hand.

• Those crowd shots of Vols fans at The Swamp were painful to watch. I’m not just saying this because Clay’s a Vols fan — I really want to see these people enjoy some success in the next decade. College football is better when Vols fans can puff out their chests a little bit.

• What in thee hell is the problem with Clemson’s offense? One of you guys has to know the problem with a team that — throw out the South Carolina State game — has scored 3, 14 and 21 (thanks to an OT TD) in games this season. And now Clemson gets 4-0- Boston College at home with the Tigers looking at a quarterback change.

• I’ll give IKEA credit for creating a full-size bed frame that’s simple to put together on a Saturday. The Kinsey household is officially liquidating all items from the baby/toddler era. As the ladies of Facebook like to say, they grow up so fast. The weirdest part of these kids growing up is that we now have two that can run down the street to play with friends, leaving us here to tinker in the house. Free time! So weird.

• Roger S. sent this photo from Cincinnati. Pray for Joe Burrow’s knees during today’s game. The Reds are finished and now all we have is Joe Burrow and his health. Don’t do it to us, Steelers.

• It’s going to be 75 with bright sunshine here in NW Ohio. Time for a Sunday mow and patio time. The kids already played with heavy equipment (see the attached photos) and tackled each other in a bouncy house this weekend so it’s time for dad to enjoy the weather.
