100th Miss America Will Be Crowned In Front Of Live Audience

There will be no more of the virtual nonsense. Instead, the 100th Miss America will be crowned before a live audience.

This year's pageant will be held at the Mohegan Sun casino in Connecticut. It's scheduled to take place in December.

“To be standing here today is exciting, especially with what everyone has been through over the course of the last 12 months,” said Mohegan Sun President and General Manager Jeff Hamilton.

Miss America organizers reached an agreement Thursday to stage the multiday competition and nationally televised finals at the Mohegan Sun, a casino in the southeastern part of the state that is owned by the Mohegan Tribe.

Camille Schrier of Virginia is the reigning title-holder. New York has produced the most winners with seven. Ohio, California and Oklahoma have each produced six. Seventeen states -- including Massachusetts, Maryland, Washington and Louisiana -- have yet to give the world a Miss America.
