Pirates Pitcher Aroldis Chapman Suspended After Fiery Exchange With Ump

MLB officially suspended longtime relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman of the Pittsburgh Pirates after the 36-year-old left the mound on Monday to lead a fiery exchange with umpire Edwin Moscoso.

According to ESPN, Chapman was also fined an "undisclosed amount" for his flare-up during the game against the New York Mets.

While Chapman has an absolute flamethrower of an arm, his "fiery conduct" tends to get in the way of his success.

Monday's incident started after Chapman gave up a two-run score to the Mets in the eighth inning. Whether it was giving up the runs for an eventual loss or just giving up runs to the Mets in general, Chapman was ticked off.

Chapman argued with Moscoso and went face-to-face with the official before getting the boot.

Barring an appeal, Chapman is slated to miss two matchups against the Boston Red Sox, scheduled for Friday and Saturday.

According to Pirates skipper Derek Shelton, Chapman uttered some nasty words toward Moscoso, prompting the veteran pitcher's ejection. "He evidently said something that the umpire did not like," Shelton commented after the 6-3 loss.

Chapman holds the record for the fastest pitch ever recorded in pro baseball, which clocked in at 105.8 mph.
