Indie Wrestler Bubba Cagle Elected Mayor of Alabama Town

If you recall what it was like when we were allowed to gather for live events back in the halcyon days of March, the video above is a wrestling match in Alabama-based New Era wrestling, featuring champion Jared "Bubba" Cagle, who got elected mayor of the town of Parrish this week.

"Hit Me With Your Best Shot" by Pat Benatar is solid entrance music. I get that the gym is not packed to the gills, but it appears that everyone there is having a joyous time, which is the purpose of pro wrestling. Cagle plays a good face.

Per the 2010 Census, Parrish has 1,268 residents; Cagle's grandfather was mayor of the town about two decades ago. “I called my grandma. She started crying and she said ‘your papa would be proud.’ And that makes all the work that lies ahead, that makes it worth it,” Cagle told CBS 42.

Cagle spent four years on city council and also teaches elementary school special education. We anticipate hearing about his future title defenses.
