Washington D.C. Teen Gets House Arrest After Alleged Shooting Rampage

A Washington, D.C. teenager reportedly was hit with house arrest while awaiting trial for an alleged shooting rampage.

A D.C. judge ordered Amonte Moody, 18, to wait for his trial on house arrest after being held in custody from April 22 until his May 3 release, according to WJLA.

What is Moody accused of? An adult man getting house arrest instead of being held in jail must mean it's not too serious, right? Wrong. Very wrong.

Moody is facing charges of endangerment with a firearm, possession of a weapon and assault after allegedly firing 26 shots at a vehicle with four people in it in the early morning hours of April 22, according to the same report. Miraculously, nobody was hit in the shooting in America's capital.

The adult man was taken into custody after police executed an emergency search warrant. A disassembled AR-15 was allegedly found in the ceiling of the residence Moody was found in.

Now, he's out on house arrest pending trial. However, the prosecution seems to be intent on getting Moody back behind bars.

"The defendant [Moody] fired 26 rounds, littering the street with shell casings. Anyone who happened to walk into that street at the moment could have been killed as an innocent bystander," prosecutors wrote in a motion filed Tuesday appealing his release, according to the same report.

It's unclear as of publication whether or not he'll be locked up again, but this is classic D.C. nonsense. The perception in the city - which is where I live - is that the police, courts and politicians don't care. How do you convince people that's an accurate perception?

Let a guy who allegedly ripped off 26 shots with a rifle sit on house arrest pending trial. Absolute insanity. Indefensible. Crime is out of control in D.C., and there's no excuse for it.

Any person who is believed to be a serious danger to society should be locked up. I can only speak for myself, but being accused of dumping nearly a full magazine of ammunition at a car with people in it seems pretty dangerous and serious to me.

I've seen more awful things in this city, and the fact allegedly dangerous criminals get house arrest while good people live in fear is insane. Law and order must be restored. Let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
