Walmart Will Refund Customers Up To $500 If They Purchased Eligible Weighted Items

You could get up to $500 from Walmart!

According to terms of a new, $48 million class action lawsuit settlement, the retail store giant will refund customers up to $500 for overcharging certain items. And get this - you can even get some cash if you don't have the receipt!

The class action suit was filed in Florida after shoppers accused Walmart of overcharging weighted items such as meat and seafood as well as bagged citrus and fruit and vegetables.

The settlement comes as many are furious that Walmart was going to start charging people to guarantee self-checkout lines.

WHAT'S THIS MEAN FOR WALMART CUSTOMERS?

Anyone who purchased weighted products between October 18, 2018 and January 19, 2024 at Walmart is eligible for compensation. So if you ever went and bought something that needed to be weighed on a scale - you could be in luck!

Customers with a receipt, proof of purchase or other documentation can recoup 2% of the total cost up to $500. Now I understand that 2% might not seem like a lot, but we are talking about nearly SIX YEARS of purchases. Think about 4th of July BBQs, Memorial Day and Labor Day parties, birthdays, holidays or how many times you've bought steaks or fruit! That can add up!

For its part, Walmart has denied any allegations but did concede that a settlement was made "in the best interests" of both parties.

HOW YOU CAN GET PAID BY WALMART

Time is running out - as anyone who wants a refund from Walmart needs to file an online claim by May 22. For the hoarders out there that keep receipts - you're in a much better position than those that don't and can receive up to the $500 maximum payment.

But for those of you that tossed away that annoying piece of paper, fear not because you can get up to $25 as well.

Twenty-five dollars in this economy? Yes.

Which is why you should take full advantage of it as everything else goes up. Twenty-five dollars richer is $25 richer. Let's go.
