Self-Proclaimed Dog Killer Kristi Noem Offers More Reasons For Shooting Cricket

Kristi Noem is digging the hole deeper and deeper when it comes to shooting her dog.

The South Dakota Governor might be the most unpopular person in America after it was revealed she admitted to shooting her 14-month-old German Wirehaired Pointer dog, Cricket, in an upcoming book.

The Guardian reported the Republican politician "hated" the dog after it turned out to be a horrible hunting dog, killed some chickens and "whipped around to bite" Noem during the now-infamous alleged chicken massacre carried out by Cricket.

The message reported by The Guardian was simple:

The dog was too aggressive, and only death was a viable option.

Kristi Noem continues to talk about killing her dog.

Well, Noem is ratcheting things up a bit. Now, the death of Cricket had nothing really to do with Cricket being a bad hunting dog or killing chickens. It was about keeping her kids safe. A very emotional topic nobody would disagree with, right?

"This was a dangerous animal, and I had a choice between keeping my small children and other people safe or a dangerous animal. And I chose the safety of my children," Noem said during a Wednesday night appearance on Fox News. She also said she took the dog from a different family who initially couldn't handle it.

Yes, the dog was so dangerous that a different family got rid of it, she took it in with her big heart, but it turned out to be so violent and mean, she went full Al Capone on it.

Now, could Noem be telling the truth that she murdered the dog to keep her kids safe? Sure. It's very possible, but it's important to note the narrative is no longer about how it was a horrible hunting dog that killed chickens and was aggressive with her. It's now about the kids. Why wasn't that the initial defense? It's certainly more understandable.

And, just to vet her information, I spoke with a veterinarian who is also an expert hunter with hunting dogs. He said German Wirehaired Pointers can be very aggressive towards other animals, and the training of the dogs usually requires the dog being capable of killing. That's how they're designed. The vet said that while the dogs can be hyper-aggressive towards other animals - as displayed in the chicken massacre - it's unlikely it would run across the street to attack a human. The veterinarian also said dogs of that breed and caliber require serious training. It definitely sounds like Cricket didn't get that before her death.

There's just one thing I simply can't understand. Why is Noem talking about this still and what moron told her to include killing a dog in her book to prove how tough she is?

If Noem from the jump had written, "This dog was going to kill my kids, so I killed it first," then nobody would be upset. That's 100 percent understandable. But again, The Guardian said the order of events was the hunting being poor, the dog killing the chickens and then getting aggressive with Noem.

Nothing about the kids….other than Noem claiming her daughter immediately wanted to know where the dead dog was.

Here's some free advice for all politicians. Avoid talking about killing dogs. If you do need to talk about killing dogs, do it in a manner that leaves no doubt you're a hero. Don't talk about hunting or dead chickens. It's a hunting dog after all. Dead chickens are a risk with a dog like a German Wirehaired Pointer. Make up some lie about how the dog went rabid and you had no choice. Then, never bring it up again. Don't double and triple down as you tweak the details. Think I'm correct? Think I'm wrong?
