Owen Wilson Turned Down Big Money To Star In Movie About O.J. Simpson Being Innocent

Owen Wilson apparently had zero interest in anything portraying O.J. Simpson as an innocent man.

The former USC Heisman winner recently passed away after a battle with cancer, and his legacy will always be mainly remembered as the guy who beat a pair of murder charges.

The Juice was acquitted of killing his ex-wife and Ron Goldman in the most famous murder trial in the past 50+ years. Despite being acquitted, many in America have always believed O.J. carried out the brutal killings.

Owen Wilson turned down O.J. Simpson movie.

Well, director Joshua Newton is making a movie about how O.J. is actually innocent, and offered a bag of money to Wilson to star in it. The answer, in no uncertain terms, was a firm no.

"Owen Wilson was perfect for the role. I actually had a meeting with him in Santa Monica. Everybody loved the script. His agent wanted him to do it. We offered him $12 million. But at the end of the lunch, Owen stood up and said, ‘If you think I’m going to take the lead role in a movie about how O.J. didn’t do it, you’ve got to be kidding me,'" Newton told the Rambling Reporter.

This situation reminds me a little of Dave Chappelle's bit about how he was constantly running into O.J. Simpson, and at one point, said a photo with the Juice wouldn't be good for his career.

Getting paid $12 million for a movie is a lot of money, but does anyone want to be the face of a movie alleging O.J. Simpson was innocent of killing Nicole and Ron? I don't think so. That seems like a really bad career move.

Remember, being found not guilty isn't the same as being innocent. Many Americans think O.J. Simpson was guilty as sin, but got away with it.

Starring in a movie about how he was innocent…..might not be the greatest idea, even for $12 million.

Having said that, I would 100% watch a movie about how O.J. didn't do it. I'd be just fascinated to know what the angle could be. Would you? Let me know at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
