Reddit Users Reveal Best Things About Las Vegas, Answers Are Pure America

What do people look forward to the most when it comes to visiting Las Vegas?

It's an interesting question, especially for someone who loves Sin City. As I've discussed many times here at OutKick, I think Vegas is the most fun city in America, and I go at least once a year.

I was built for Las Vegas and the city was built for me.

Reddit users share favorite things about a Las Vegas trip.

Well, it turns out there are a lot of other people who also love America's vacation and entertainment capital, and they're breaking it all down in a Reddit thread titled, "For those that have gone countless times to Vegas, what do you look forward to the most?"

Check out some of the answers below, and let me know your reactions at David.Hookstead@outkick.com:

  • Landing on the tarmac and knowing it is all ahead RIGHT NOW!
  • You’re so damn right. Love the anticipation walking through the airport.
  • I drive in from the Phoenix area... over 25 yrs now. Every time i come over the hill and see Vegas in the valley below me, bro... its like im 8 and walking into Disneyland for the 1st time. It never gets old.
  • Followed in the blink of an eye by a deep envy when you’re somehow already back at Harry Reid, passing people who have it all ahead of them.
  • After you check in and then going down to the casino for the first time with the whole trip ahead of you and you can do whatever you want.
  • Cocktails and people watching at the Overlook Bar at Wynn.
  • Depends on the trip and time of year but the things I love most are going to the pool all day, eating insanely good food, playing blackjack, and day drinking while wandering around from casino to casino with no set plans for the day.
  • To land at the airport, hear those machines GOIN, walk 80 miles to the Uber pickup.....it's just that feeling of "I'm HERE. This is trouble and the best kind of it." Sitting at the Bellagio pool with a rum Dole whip, order some sammiches and then head up to the room and get ready. Walking thru the casinos, even though the crowds can be annoying. The AC on full blast. It's all just a VIBE.
  • I love to people watch and feel their energy. I take massive walks down to Mandalay and up to Tacos el Gordo. Rinse and repeat.
  • A really long roll at the craps table (don’t always get it though)
  • For me it’s just the overall vibe. Something you can’t explain to others who really don’t get it. But for the people who do, they know exactly the feeling.
  • I’m addicted to the smell inside the venetian. it’s been a constant since my first trip in 2011.
  • Mirage for that coconut tropical smell. I’m going to miss it when it’s a giant guitar.
  • The desert air hitting when we walk out of the airport.
  • May be weird but the predictability. We stick to the damn near same itinerary each time - same restaurants, etc. We always know what to expect and it has never under-delivered. That may sound boring to some but it's the greatest appeal to Vegas for us.
  • All of it. Nowhere else in the country has the same concentration of awesome dining, drinking, pools and nightlife in such an accessible area. Sure, you can have similar distinct experiences in NYC, Miami, or LA but you're gonna spend a significant amount of time moving between places that you don't have to do in Vegas, it's all walkable
  • Feeling the degenerate part of me come back alive in full swing. Drink, smoke (thc), gamble, eat, splurge at fancy restaurants, shop, people watch, drink, smoke, gamble, eat, sleep, repeat. Towards the end of it, I’m the healthiest I’ll ever be. Stuck in a short term hangover, not wanting to drink, wanting to make more money (from losing most of it to gambling and then some).
  • The fact that I can get nearly anything at any time. Even then there are endless options. This is a far cry from home.
  • I love the replies. So many "little things" that get you in that Vegas mood, from the moment you land. Before I moved to Vegas, every time I would visit I'd make sure to go on the Big Shot on top of the Strat at night, every time. Sometimes my friends would come with, but sometimes not. There was just something about being shot up in the summertime air, seeing all the lights of Las Vegas to the horizon, and then... darkness. I used to tell people that's my "Grand Canyon"... beautiful view that was always etched in my memory.

That's just a sampling of the answers, and after reading through them all, I'm thoroughly fired up. I also have a pretty simple answer.

I know exactly what I'm doing as soon as I step off the plane and check into my hotel. There's a couple cold beers with my name on them waiting for me at Stage Door.

When you're at Stage Door, you're at home. You'll never find a more random collection of people in the entire world than you will at the dive bar behind The Flamingo. It's amazing. One moment, you're toasting to "Red Dawn" characters who sacrificed so much. Next, you're debating any topic imaginable. After that, it's time to hit the tables at Ellis Island and then head over to Fremont. It hits the best way imaginable every single time.

I have a trip coming up soon, and seeing stuff like this floating around Reddit and social media has me so pumped. Do you have a great Las Vegas story or some tips? I definitely want to hear them. Hit me at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
