Kevin Costner Breaks Silence On 'Yellowstone' Future With Unexpected Claim

Kevin Costner has finally addressed his future on "Yellowstone."

The fifth and final season of the hit neo-Western from Taylor Sheridan is expected to return in November to wrap things up, but it's unclear whether or not that will happen. It doesn't appear like production has started and it's already mid-April.

One of the biggest questions hanging over the series is whether or not Costner will return after nonstop drama. It's looked like for a long time that his days of playing John Dutton are over, but that might not be the case.

It sounds like Costner might be open to a return.

Kevin Costner discusses "Yellowstone" future.

"I'd like to be able to do it but we haven't been able to...I thought I was going to make seven [seasons] but right now we're at five. So how it works out -- I hope it does -- but they've got a lot of different shows going on. Maybe it will. Maybe this will circle back to me. If it does and I feel really comfortable with [it], I'd love to do it," Costner told Entertainment Tonight when talking about his future on the show.

He even told ET that he's thought about how John Dutton's fate might be sealed by the time the final credits roll.

"Well, you know, he needs to be proactive in what happens and I've kind of had my own fantasy how it might be, but that's Taylor's thing. I said as much to him a while back. I had thoughts how it could happen, but we just have to see," the star actor continued.

The biggest question now might be whether or not Sheridan even wants Costner back. It's pretty clear the man responsible for playing John Dutton would like to return, but there's been plenty of reporting that the feeling might not be mutual.

Would Sheridan re-work what he's already written of the final season and ending in order to include Costner? That's a question only he has the answer to.

No matter what happens, fans deserve a great ending. We've invested years into the show going back to 2018. Anything less than an awesome ending will be a huge disappointment. Let's hope Sheridan figures it out, whether it includes Costner or not. Let me know your prediction for the ending at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
